HANDCRAFT A SUPER SCARF FOR A VOLUNTEER
The Super Bowl Host Committee considers itself very lucky to have so many incredible Super Scarf creators who are devoting their personal time to keep our volunteers warm during Super Bowl XLVI! Our original goal was to reach 8,000 Super Scarves, but our volunteer Scarf creators continue to amaze us with their effort and will exceed our expectations in no time! With that enthusiasm, the Super Bowl Host Committee is proud to extend the goal of the program by not only providing a warm welcome to our volunteers, but including various front line hospitality employees who participate in our Super Service initiative. These hospitality workers take great pride in giving all our guests visiting Indianapolis a warm welcome and their enthusiasm for Super Bowl XLVI is contagious.
Your skills are valued and we hope you take great pride in this fun way to show the world your generosity and handiwork during Super Bowl XLVI! Super Scarves began as a thank you and, with your passion; it has become an enormous warm hug. Thanks for your continued work and determination.
NEWS FLASH: Artists, Dante Ventresca and Rebecca Hutton, took a different approach at getting involved with the 2012 Super Bowl Host Committee's Super Scarves program. In downtown Indianapolis' Arts Garden, you will see their artistic expression of knitting displayed beautifully above your head.
"The process of knitting is something that is timeless and it is something that reaches across culture with a rich, beautiful history." Ventresca said.
The artwork focuses on the knitter's hands, and turning a single string of yarn into a beautiful masterpiece. You can check out an interview with the artists in the upcoming Super Scarves newsletter. Make sure you sign up and STAY CONNECTED.

Super Scarves Program and Description:
Here's your chance to suit up for the action even if you can't play in the big game.
As Indianapolis gets ready to host Super Bowl XLVI, there's a way you can create a scarf to be a part of the fun and make your mark on the game. Super Scarves is a program launched by the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee (a not-for-profit) to share warmth and the Super Bowl experience with people across the country.
The Host Committee wants to give those who cannot physically volunteer in February 2012 a chance to be involved with the Super Bowl. We are looking for individuals who are interested in making a warm thank you for the volunteers who will be participating in the 2012 Super Bowl. These beautiful handcrafted scarves will keep them warm in the cool winter weather and also provide a special connection between the volunteers and scarf creators.
The Super Bowl Host Committee considers itself very lucky to have incredible volunteers who are devoting their personal time to keep our volunteers warm. Many of them also contribute to other causes that help the sick and needy and we applaud you. Your skills are valued and we hope you take great pride in this fun way to show the nation your handiwork!
If you love to knit, crochet, or weave, or have always wanted to learn, please help the Host Committee and handcraft a blue and white scarf for a volunteer or hospitality employee! And as soon as your Super Scarf is completed, please turn it in so we can get them to the volunteers at the Indiana Women's prison (who are sewing on the official Super Bowl XLVI patch.) The deadline to submit your scarf is November 30, 2011.
Live in Indianapolis and want to learn how to knit and/or practice your craft in a group setting? We have a valuable partnership with the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library that provides helpful classes on knitting.
