2,012 TREES

WHAT IS 2,012 TREES BY 2012?

The 2,012 Trees program is simple: the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee wants to plant 2,012 trees on the Near Eastside before Super Bowl XLVI. Doing so will help maximize the environmental impact of additional trees while building excitement around tree planting.

To accomplish this, we have partnered with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful Inc. and the John H. Boner Community Center.

Did you know the following facts about trees?

- Trees reduce the crime rate and make neighborhoods safer and more social
- There is up to 60% reduction in street level particulates with trees (clean air and water)
- Properly placed shade trees can save an average of $250 annually in energy costs
- Exposure to trees reduces mental fatigue
-Mature trees can increase property value up to 20%

Learn about these benefits and more HERE.

If you are excited about planting trees, sign-up with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful to volunteer for planned tree plantings. And if you plant any trees on your own, be sure log on to our 1st & Green Environmental Challenge and enter it into the tree planting tracker.
